I love fried chicken! Well, who doesn’t? This recipe of chicken is not only delicious, but it is also very creamy and juicy. The buttermilk helped a lot in tenderizing the chicken. I usually marinate the chicken in buttermilk for 6 hours, but you can always marinate it overnight for better texture. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 (3 ½) pound chicken, cut into 8-pieces
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon dried rosemary
¼ teaspoon ground thyme
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon dried sage
½ teaspoon white pepper
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups buttermilk
For the seasoned flour:
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon white pepper
½ teaspoon onion powder
2 ½ quarts peanut oil for frying
Directions:
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, add the chicken, paprika, sage, oregano, black pepper, salt, cayenne, thyme, and rosemary. Toss until well mixed.
Step 2: Add buttermilk and stir until the chicken is well coated. Place inside the fridge for 6 hours to chill.
Step 3: In a small mixing bowl, add flour, garlic powder, cayenne, paprika, white pepper, onion powder, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 4: Place the chicken into the seasoned flour. Dredge each piece until well coated. Shake off the excess and place them on a clean plate.
Step 5: Place a large Dutch oven on the stove and add peanut oil.
Step 6: Turn the heat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Step 7: Place all the chicken into the hot oil and cook for 10 minutes on one side then flip it. Cook the other side for another 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 8: Remove the chicken and place them on a baking sheet lined with paper towels. Let it sit for 10 minutes at room temperature to cool.
Step 9: Serve and enjoy!
Notes:
Make sure to check the temperature of the oil. You should cook the chicken at 305 degrees F or 155 degrees C for 20 minutes for the best result.
