Doughnuts from the doughnut shop are unbelievably tasty and indulgent with the distinctive bakery taste and texture. Why not make them at home if you can’t pick up your favorite doughnuts? Being able to make them from scratch without leaving the comforts of your home is so much fun.
This quick and simple doughnut recipe is all you in case you want something to serve for snacks. Also, the ingredients are quite a staple. My family loves the recipe so much, especially my children, they do not just want to eat them, but they also volunteer to help me through the process of making this.

Ingredients:
2 tsp white vinegar
⅜ cup milk
2 tsp shortening
½ cup white sugar
(1) egg
½ tsp vanilla extract
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
(1) quart oil for deep frying
½ cup confectioners’ sugar for dusting
Directions:
Add and stir the vinegar into the milk, and let it stand for a few minutes until thick.
Cream the shortening and sugar until smooth in a medium bowl. Beat in the egg and vanilla until it is well blended. Sift the flour together with baking soda, and salt; then stir into the sugar mixture, alternating with vinegar and milk. Then, roll the dough to ⅓ inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a donut cutter to cut it into doughnuts. Let it stand for 10 minutes.
In a large deep skillet, heat the oil over 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry the doughnuts in the hot oil until golden, turn it over once. Drain it on paper towels. Dust with confectioner’s sugar while they are still warm, and serve immediately.
Note:
After cooking, we calculated the nutritional value of frying oil based on a retention value of 10 percent. The exact quantity can differ with the time of the cook, temperature, density of the ingredients, and type of oil used.
