Quick and easy. This one-pot recipe has a scrumptious mixture of noodles, macaroni, tomatoes, ground beef, cheese, and a lot more!
INGREDIENTS
1 yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound ground beef
14.5 ounces can petite diced tomatoes do not drain
1 ½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
10.75 ounces can of tomato soup
14.5 ounces can low sodium beef broth
1 teaspoon brown sugar
2 bay leaves
2 cups elbow macaroni
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
How to make One Pot American Goulash
Step 1: Cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat until brown. When done, drain the excess grease.
Step 2: Into the beef and onion mixture, add the salt, pepper, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, tomato soup, brown sugar, and bay leaves. Put the lid on and let everything simmer for approximately 20 minutes.
Step 3: Then, add the elbow macaroni. Put the lid back on and continue to simmer for another 15 to 20 minutes or until the pasta is tender.
Step 4: Remove the bay leaves and discard them.
Step 5: Sprinkle with the shredded cheese. Replace the lid and allow the Goulash to sit for about 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
TIPS:
You can prep this Goulash in advance. When ready to serve, bake in a preheated 350 degrees oven for about 30 minutes until warm and bubbly, covered.
In an airtight container, keep the Goulash and store it in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days.
Reheat any leftovers for a minute in the microwave. Stir and warm in 30-second increments until heated through.
Completely cool the Goulash and keep it in an airtight container. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight, then reheat in the oven, stovetop, or microwave.
It is suggested to cook the Goulash in a large, heavy-duty soup pot to help it cook evenly.
For this recipe, you can use any cheese. I like mild cheddar, but you can use sharp cheddar or any cheese variety.
