HOW TO MAKE CHEESY CHICKEN BROCCOLI BRAID RECIPE
Step 1: In warm water with sugar in a medium bowl or stand mixer, dissolve the yeast. Set aside for 5 minutes or until bubbly. Then, add the flour along with the salt and olive oil. Stir to make a smooth dough. As needed, add the flour until the consistency of the dough is a little tacky to the touch but not overly sticky. In a greased bowl, place the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes.
Step 2: In the meantime, prepare the oven and preheat it to 350 degrees.
Step 3: Whisk the cream cheese, chicken, broccoli, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and ½ cup cheese until blended.
Step 4: Gently punch the dough down once it has risen. On a piece of parchment paper/Silpat, roll the dough out shaping it into a 15 x 20-inch rectangle.
Step 5: Down the middle of the dough, spread the chicken and broccoli mixture, and sprinkle with the rest of the cheese. From the outside of the rectangle to the filling in the middle, cut one-inch strips at a diagonal using a pizza cutter or sharp knife. Over the filling, fold the strips of dough, alternating sides to cream a braid. Tuck in the ends once you get to the end of the braid.
Step 6: To a baking sheet, move the parchment or Silpat. Lightly beat the egg and water, then brush the braid with it and lightly sprinkle with sea salt.
Step 7: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until light golden brown.
