I am a huge fan of the classics! And this Simple Old Fashioned Goulash Recipe is the perfect example of a classic recipe that has been loved by many! This is incredibly easy to prep and ready in a breeze. Every time I make this delicious Goulash, I am reminded of my childhood, my mom, and the simple life. This Goulash recipe is also an excellent option if you are trying to stretch your food budget.
Ingredients
2 pounds of Ground beef
1 pound Elbow macaroni
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ Onion, diced
2 teaspoons Oregano
¼ teaspoon Rosemary
28 ounces Tomato sauce
20 ounces Diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon Parsley
1 teaspoon Basil
¼ teaspoon Thyme
½ teaspoon Paprika
1 c. Cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Black pepper
How to make Simple Old Fashioned Goulash
Step 1: In a pot of salted boiling water, cook the macaroni until al dente. Drain when done and set aside.
Step 2: Into a skillet, add the ground beef and onions. Saute for about 5 to 7 minutes, stirring often until completely cooked. Then, stir in the garlic along with the Worcestershire sauce. Add the tomato sauce, followed by the diced tomatoes and the rest of the spices. Stir well until combined.
Step 3: Into the skillet, add the pasta. Decrease the heat and toss well. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes or until the pasta is cooked through.
Step 4: If desired, stir in the cheese until melted.
Step 5: Take the skillet off the heat and serve the Goulash immediately. Enjoy!
Note:
For a healthier version, you can swap ground beef with ground turkey or ground chicken.
