Ingredients
1 lb pork sausage jimmy dean
1 ½ c. whole milk or heavy cream
8 eggs
2 c. cheddar cheese
1 package 30 ounces bag frozen shredded hash browns thawed out
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
1 ½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
How to make Sausage Hashbrown Breakfast Casserole
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 375 degrees. Using non-stick cooking spray, grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Step 2: In a skillet, cook the pork sausage over medium heat until brown, breaking the meat into small chunks. When done, drain the grease and set the sausage aside.
Step 3: Combine the eggs with heavy cream and all the spices until well-mixed.
Step 4: In the prepared casserole dish, layer the ingredients in order; thawed has browns, pre-cooked sausage, cheese, and the whisked egg mixture.
Step 5: Tent the casserole with foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for about 40 minutes. Then, uncover and continue baking for additional 20 minutes.
Notes:
You can prep this casserole the night before and keep it in the fridge. Bake the next day for an easy morning breakfast.
Feel free to swap hash browns with tater tots. You can also use any cheese in place of cheddar cheese. If desired, you can use milk instead of heavy cream. As for the pork sausage, you can substitute it with ham, bacon, turkey sausage, and Italian sausage.
