This Asian Beef with Mushrooms & Snow Peas is a simple weeknight dinner with tender mushrooms, thinly sliced steak, and crisp snow peas sauteed with garlic. My family’s favorite dinner that you can easily make in less than an hour.
Ingredients
Homemade Asian Sauce:
6 garlic cloves, minced
½ c. Tamari or low-sodium soy sauce
5 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp rice vinegar
½ tsp ginger
Beef:
4 tbsp olive oil
10 ounces snow peas
1 lb beef thinly sliced (sirloin steak strips, flank steak, or any other steak)
10 ounces mushrooms, sliced thinly
How to make Asian Beef with Mushrooms & Snow Peas
Step 1: In a bowl, place the Asian Sauce ingredients and mix well until blended. Set aside.
Step 2: In a medium pan, bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, add the snow peas and cook for about 5 minutes. Drain and set the snow peas aside.
Step 3: Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet until hot. Once the oil sizzles, add the thinly sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook over high heat until nicely brown, turning often. Lightly season the mushrooms with salt, midway through cooking. To a bowl, transfer the mushrooms and set aside.
Step 4: Add 2 tbsp olive oil to the same skillet and heat over high heat. Once hot, add the thinly sliced meat. I suggest cooking the meat in 2 batches to overcrowd the pan. Sear the beef until nicely brown. Then, flip and continue to cook the beef slices on the other side until brown. To a bowl, transfer the seared meat.
Step 5: Once all the slices of meat are cooked, return them all to the skillet. Then, add the snow peas along with the cooked mushrooms. Pour in the Asian sauce. Stir and cook for a minute over high heat.
Step 6: Turn off the heat and put the lid on.
