This masala is a simpler version of the traditional Tikka Masala made with chicken, butter, heavy cream, garlic, and tons of spices that are clearly isn’t dairy-free or plant-based. This version is different starting from the ingredients. I love both versions! But I make this lazy version more often. Not only that this is way easier, but this suits my needs, especially since this version uses natural ingredients without any preservatives. Enjoy this vegetable masala anytime with this easy recipe and serve this with some basmati rice or naan bread.
Ingredients
6 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
2 15-ounces cans of chopped tomatoes
1 c. coconut milk
2 15-ounces cans of chickpeas, drained
4 tsp Garam Masala
salt, and pepper to taste
Optional:
1 c. bell pepper, chopped
½ c. chopped onions
How to make Chickpea Tikka Masala
Step 1: If using an optional add-on such as bell peppers and onions. Start by heating a little oil (for oil-free cooking, use vegetable broth). Then, fry the veggies for about 5 minutes.
Step 2: In the same pot, add all the ingredients and season with salt and pepper. Cook further, allowing everything to simmer for about 10 minutes.
Step 3: Onto plates, divide the Chickpea Tikka Masala or serve straight from the pot. Enjoy immediately!
