Focaccia Bread is a healthy, very tasty bread that you can easily make. It is made with just a few simple ingredients. This Focaccia Bread is great for dipping in soups, and sandwiches, and excellent on its own. I love serving this perfectly crisp, light, tender, and airy bread with sausage and potatoes. This Focaccia Bread also pairs well with soup, carbonara, and a lot more!
Ingredients
¼ c. olive oil
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. warm water
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp salt
2 tsp dried basil
1 tsp flaky sea salt – I used Maldon salt
1 ¼ tsp instant yeast
How to make Focaccia Bread
Step 1: Place the flour, salt, and yeast in a medium bowl. Mix well, then pour in the warm water. Stir again until you have a soft and sticky dough. Using plastic wrap, tent the bowl and place it in the fridge for at least 8 hours up to 24 hours.
Step 2: Using your hands, gently form the chilled dough into a ball.
Step 3: Into the bottom of an 8-inch cake pan, pour 1 tbsp of olive oil. Spread to cover the bottom of the pan. In the middle of the pan, place the ball of dough and tightly cover it with plastic wrap. Allow the dough to sit for about 2 hours at room temperature or until the dough rise, nearly filling the cake pan.
Step 4: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 450 degrees. Then, remove the plastic wrap from the pan. Over the dough, drizzle the rest of the olive oil, pressing and pushing the dough to the bottom of the pan. Do the same until the whole surface of the dough is covered in deep dimples. On top, sprinkle the oregano, basil, and sea salt.
Step 5: Place in the preheated oven and bake the bread for about 22 to 25 minutes or until crisp and golden brown.
