I always love Sloppy Joes! They are my favorite since I was little. My mom makes the best Sloppy Joes! I have recreated her recipe, but ended up making this Open Faced Italian Sloppy joe. I stumbled upon this recipe way back, but I was so obsessed with my mom’s Sloppy Joe recipe. When I get the chance to try it, this Open Faced Italian Sloppy joe changed everything! I even showed my mom this recipe, and she loved it, too!
I enjoy the idea of an Italian version. This Open-Faced Italian Sloppy Joes, I think live up to its name. This Open-Faced Italian Sloppy Joes is extra saucy and uses much less butter (which I think works great with this recipe). It is insanely easy to make using just five ingredients! Leftovers are amazing, too! If you love Sloppy Joes, you better not miss this easy recipe! You’ll love this even more!
Ingredients
1 c. mozzarella cheese, shredded
8 slices of frozen garlic toast
1 lb lean ground beef
Fresh parsley, chopped
2 c. spaghetti sauce more or less, depending on your preference
How to make Open-Faced Italian Sloppy Joes
Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat it to the cooking temperature directed on the garlic toast box.
Step 2: Into a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking the meat up as it cooks until no longer pink. Then, drain the excess grease.
Step 3: To the ground beef, add the spaghetti sauce and stir well. Let it simmer for about 7 to 10 minutes, stirring often.
Step 4: In the meantime, place the garlic toast in the preheated oven and bake according to the package directions until both sides are golden brown.
Step 5: On top of the garlic toast, spoon the meat sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Step 6: Serve immediately. Enjoy!
