This Taco Braid is one of my favorite, super fun ways to enjoy a taco! The ground beef is seasoned with taco seasoning, then covered with shredded cheese and tomatoes, and finally wrapped in breaded pizza dough. Not only that this Taco Braid tastes amazing, but this looks very appetizing, too!
Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1 pound Zaycon Fresh 93/7 Super Lean Ground Beef
½ c. chopped onion
1 canister of refrigerated pizza crust
3 tbsp Homemade Taco Seasoning
1 c. Fiesta Blend shredded cheese, divided
2 c. chopped Romaine lettuce
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
½ c. water
Sour cream and taco sauce for serving, if desired
1 tomato, diced, plus additional for top, if desired
How to make Taco Braid
Step 1: Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 375 degrees.
Step 2: Heat the olive oil in a big skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook over high heat for about 3 to 5 minutes until tender. Then, add the ground beef and continue to cook until browned.
Step 3: To the ground beef mixture, add the taco seasoning. Mix well.
Step 4: Adjust the heat to low and allow everything to simmer for about 5 to 7 minutes or until the spices are aromatic.
Step 5: In the meantime, transfer the parchment to your work surface. Place the pizza dough on the parchment and roll the dough out to about 10 to 15-inches. Then, cut the dough a couple of inches thick along each side (around 1.5×3 inches thick).
Step 6: Once the beef is done, place the beef within the middle of the dough. Sprinkle about ¾ cups of cheese on top, followed by the diced tomatoes.
Step 7: Begin folding the ends from the end of the braids, wrapping the first couple of slices on top. This will properly secure the braid. Then, wrap the remaining slices until you are left with just two.
Step 8: Place the braids on the baking dish. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the braids are browned. Remove from the oven when done and serve the Taco Braid right away. Enjoy!
