INGREDIENTS
1 ¼ pounds of ground beef
2 tbsp butter
8 oz. penne pasta
1 medium onion, chopped
1 (10.5 oz. ) can of French onion soup
1 green pepper chopped
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
8 oz. white button mushrooms, sliced
⅓ pound coarsely chopped provolone cheese
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tbsp cornstarch
How to make Philly Cheesesteak Pasta
Step 1: Following the package directions, cook the noodles until al dente. Drain the noodles when done.
Step 2: Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink. To a plate, transfer the cooked ground beef, leaving any grease in the pan.
Step 3: Into the now-empty pan, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium-high heat. Swirl the butter a couple of times to prevent it from burning. Then, add the mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes or until almost golden brown. Next, add the onions and peppers. Continue to cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 4: Adjust the heat to low, then whisk in the French onion soup and Worcestershire sauce.
Step 5: Stir the cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water in a small bowl. Whisk this into the skillet and continue to cook for additional 2 minutes until the mixture is slightly thickened.
Step 6: Return the browned beef to the skillet and add the cooked pasta followed by the chopped provolone. Put the lid on and let the cheese melt. To taste, season with salt and pepper.
