These Cheese and Bacon Turnovers are perfect for snacks! You can make them ahead of time and pop them in the oven to bake the next day! In less than 30 minutes, these delicious treats are ready for serving! Ingredients:
Turnovers
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
4 square slices of Sharp Cheddar Cheese, halved
8 rashers of Streaky Bacon
1 sheet of Puff Pastry
Caramelized Onions
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
Salt & Black Pepper, to taste
1 pound / 500g Red or White Onion, finely sliced
1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
1 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar
Directions:
Place a large frying pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the onions into the pan, then cook for about 10 minutes or until caramelized.
Add salt, pepper, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar. Stir until well blended.
Turn the heat down to low, then cook the onions further for 20 more minutes.
Sprinkle flour onto a flat surface, then unroll the dough on it. Cut it into 8 even pieces.
Spoon onions in the middle of each dough, followed by one slice of cheese and bacon. Fold the sides and seal them with a wet finger. Repeat the process with the rest of the ingredients.
Place them in the oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes at 390 degrees F.
Remove from the oven and allow them to rest for about 5 minutes at room temperature.

Notes:
I highly recommend using cheddar cheese for this recipe.
You can make these turnovers ahead of time. Place them in the fridge and bake them the next day. They can last up to 3 days in the fridge.
