Ingredients:
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp flour
2 c half and half
1-2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1 (12 ounces) fully cooked smoked sausage, any variety
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1 c chicken broth
16 oz. dry pasta
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
½ c grated Parmesan cheese
2 c grated mozzarella cheese, divided
¼ tsp red pepper flakes
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
Directions:
Refer to the directions provided on the package of pasta on how to cook it. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.
Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Add butter and allow it to melt.
Add garlic, then sauté for about a minute or until aromatic.
Add flour into the skillet, then whisk and cook for a minute to remove the raw taste.
Add broth and half & half, then stir until well blended. Season with salt, cayenne, red pepper flakes, and pepper to taste.
Add 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese, then stir until well blended. Allow the cheese to completely melt.
Slice the sausage into ¼-inch round pieces, then add them to the skillet. Stir again until well incorporated.
Add the drained pasta together with freshly chopped parsley into the skillet with the sauce, then toss until well coated. Add more seasonings according to your taste preference.
Apply cooking spray to a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Transfer the contents of the skillet into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
Sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella cheese on top. Broil for about 3 minutes in the oven.
