Ingredients:
3 tbsp flour
¼ tsp red pepper flakes
½ c grated Parmesan cheese
1 c chicken broth
3 tbsp butter
2 c half and half
1-2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
2 c grated mozzarella cheese, divided
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
1 (12 ounces) fully cooked smoked sausage, any variety
16 oz. dry pasta
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
Directions:
Place a large pot with water on the stove and turn the heat to high. Allow the water to boil.
Add the pasta and a bit of salt, then cook for a few minutes until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water.
Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add butter and allow it to melt.
Add the garlic into the hot skillet, then sauté for a minute or until aromatic.
Add flour, then whisk and cook for a minute to remove the raw taste.
Add broth and half & half, then stir until well blended.
Add salt, cayenne, red pepper flakes, and pepper. Stir everything until well blended. Simmer for a few minutes.
Add 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese, then stir until completely melted.
Slice the sausage into ¼-inch round pieces and put them into the skillet, then toss until well combined.
Add the drained pasta together with freshly chopped parsley, then toss until well coated with the delicious sauce. Taste and add more seasonings if you need to.
Apply cooking spray to a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Empty the skillet into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
Sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella cheese on top.
Broil for about 3 minutes in the oven.
