Time flies so fast and before you know it comes Christmas! This recipe I am sharing with you today is perfect for such an occasion! This Christmas Baklava is a must-try! I always make this during the yuletide season! It is some kind of a tradition in our family. Now, allow me to share it with you as well! You will not regret even considering this recipe. Ingredients:
1 lb. package of Phyllo dough
1-½ c butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ lb. chopped pecans
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
2-½ c of honey
2-3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
½ lb. chopped walnuts
Directions:
Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Add nuts and ground cinnamon into a mixing bowl. Toss until the nuts are well coated.
Line a baking dish with 2 sheets of phyllo, then brush it with melted butter.
Scatter 3 tbsp of the cinnamon-coated nuts into the prepared baking dish. Repeat the process with the rest of the phyllo sheets, butter, and nuts until everything is arranged in layers.
Slice through each layer making. You should get 4 slices.
Turn the and make 4 slices again to make diagonal shapes.
Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes or until done.
Meanwhile, place a pan on the stove and honey. Turn the heat to medium and allow it to boil.
Add vanilla and lemon zest, then stir until well blended.
Remove the Baklava from the oven, then pour the honey mixture on top and spread it evenly. Let it rest at room temperature for a couple of minutes.
