Orange sherbet was something I loved as a child. It is still a favorite of mine. The orange flavor is perfectly mellowed by the creamy orange flavor.
My mom used to make orange sherbet punches that I believed were the nectar for the gods. It was only for special occasions until I learned how to make it by the glass. I hate waiting to be able to enjoy the things I love at certain times of the year.
This recipe is simple and you can make it at home. It’s brilliant! It is amazing!
My children love making sherbet with me. They are always checking the progress of the mixture while it is freezing. Their excitement is pure entertainment
Ingredients
1-liter orange soda – this is about 4 cups
1 (14 oz.) can sweeten condensed milk
Directions
Mix the orange soda with sweetened condensed milk in a large bowl. Whisk until well combined.
How to Make Ice Cream
Use an ice cream machine to make ice cream. After whisking, add the mixture and start the churning. In case you’re wondering, the soda bubbles will dissipate during churning, and the liquid will condense.
For about an hour, churn the mixture. Once the mixture is frozen partially, transfer it to a loaf pan. Freeze for 6-8 hours or until firm.
Hand Preparing
If you don’t have an ice cream maker, whisk the mixture well and then transfer it to a pan. Freeze the mixture.
Mix the mixture for 1 hour and place it back in the freezer.
This process should be repeated every two hours. During the freezing process, stir at least twice.
It will take between 6-8 hours for it to become solid.
Enjoy once you have frozen it!
Notes
* Storing Sherbet I place the sherbet into a metal bread or other metal pan and cover it with a tight-fitting lid. The metal pans are faster to freeze the mixture and keep it from freezing while it is being stored. It is possible to transfer the sherbet into a glass container or plastic container with a lid. It is not necessary to store the sherbet in a metal container.
* Storage time: The best way to enjoy sherbet is within one month. It won’t be hard, I promise!
* Changing Flavors You can make sherbet with other flavors by adding your favorite flavor soda. Black Cherry soda is a favorite of mine and I have used it to make sherbet. You have many options: Strawberry, Grape, Root Beer, and Lemon-lime. Pick your favorite flavor, and make your sherbet.
* No sugar soda: This will cut down on sugar. I’ve made sherbet using this method and it’s amazing.
