A big thanks to my dear friend, Julio, for giving me this amazing recipe! This is just too perfect that’s why I decided to share it with you! I have listed all the ingredients and directions so all you need to do is to follow them step by step and you are good to go! Feel free to add more ingredients if you prefer. I think adding chilli powder would make these Carnitas extra special! Anyway, I hope you all love and appreciate this simple recipe. Have a blessed day, friends. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
4 pounds boneless pork roast
3 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 large onion diced
5 garlic cloves
4 tablespoon lime juice (from 2 limes)
½ c orange juice (from 2 oranges)
1 c chicken broth
2 bay leaves
Directions:
Step 1: Pat dry the pork using paper towels.
Step 2: In a small mixing bowl, add in the dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
Step 3: Rub the pork generously with the mixed seasonings.
Step 4: Add in the garlic cloves, chopped onions, lime juice, broth, bay leaves, and orange juice into the slow cooker.
Step 5: Add the pork into the slow cooker and cook on high for 5 hours or 7-8 hours on low.
Step 6: Remove the cooked pork from the slow cooker and use two forks to shred it into small pieces.
Step 7: Place the shredded pork on a baking sheet and pour in about ½ cup of the juices over.
Step 8: Broil for about 5 to 7 minutes or until the colour turns golden brown.
Step 9: Allow it to cool at room temperature for at least 5 minutes.
Step 10: Serve and enjoy!
