Apples are delicious as is but once you fry them, they are perfect! The flavours come out once you fry them together with these simple ingredients. You have got to give this a try. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon butter
2 large Granny Smith apples – peeled, cored, and cut into ¼-inch dice
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 large egg
¼ cup white sugar
1 tablespoon melted butter
½ cup sparkling apple cider
2 cups vegetable oil for frying
Glaze:
½ cup confectioners’ sugar, or more as needed
1 tablespoon sparkling apple cider, or as needed to make the glaze
Directions:
Step 1: Place a saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Step 2: Add the butter and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 3: Add the apples and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until the sides are tender.
Step 4: Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar and cook for another 2 minutes, then remove the pan from the heat.
Step 5: Drain using a strainer and let it sit at room temperature to cool.
Step 6: In a medium mixing bowl, add the flour, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 7: In another mixing bowl, add the melted butter, egg, and ¼ cup sugar. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 8: Add in the cooked apples, apple cider, and the flour mixture. Stir until well mixed.
Step 9: Place a deep-fryer on the stove and add oil. Turn the heat to 175 degrees C.
Step 10: Spoon 2 tablespoons of the batter into the oil and slightly flatten them out.
Step 11: Cook each side for 2 minutes or until brown.
Step 12: Place the Apple fritters on a clean place lined with paper towels to drain the excess oil.
Step 13: In a small mixing bowl, add the cinnamon, powdered sugar, and apple cider. Stir until well mixed.
Step 14: Drizzle the glaze over the fitters.
Step 15: Serve and enjoy!
