Ingredients:
½ lb. bulk mild Italian sausage + ½ pound ground beef (may use 1 pound ground meat of choice)
1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
1 24-25 oz. marinara sauce
12 oz. pasta of choice (use gluten-free, if needed)
1 ½ c shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Optional for serving: fresh basil and Parmesan, optional
Directions:
Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Apply cooking spray in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Place a skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Add the ground beef, then cook until crumbly and brown. Discard accumulated grease.
Meanwhile, place a large pot with water on the stove and turn the heat to high. Allow the water to boil.
Add the pasta and cook until firm to bite. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.
Transfer the cooked pasta into the prepared baking pan.
Add the marinara sauce, cooked meat, Italian seasoning, and ¾ cup of cheese. Stir until well combined.
Sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top.
Cover the baking pan with aluminium foil, then place it inside the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes.
Remove the foil cover and bake for another 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted completely.
Remove from the oven and garnish with more Parmesan cheese and freshly chopped basil.
Serve warm and enjoy!
