Classic Amish Oatmeal Pie

It tastes just like the classics that we all know and love.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ¼ cups brown sugar packed
  • ¾ cup old-fashioned rolled oatmeal
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs beaten
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 unbaked pie shell
  • vanilla ice cream optional

Method
 

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350o F. Line a pie plate with an unbaked crust.
  2. Mix brown sugar, oats and sugar in a large bowl. Next, add milk, beaten eggs and butter to the bowl.
  3. Continue to stir until everything is well combined.
  4. Place mixture in a pie shell and bake.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the pie is golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool in the oven for 10-15 minutes before serving with whipped cream or ice cream.
