Ingredients:
¼ lb. cheddar cheese, shredded
¼ lb. Swiss cheese, shredded
2 c elbow macaroni
2 c milk
¼ onion, minced
4 tbsp butter
¼ lb. processed cheese food
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Apply cooking spray to a large baking dish.
Place a large pot with water on the stove and turn the heat to high. Allow the water to boil.
Add the elbow macaroni, then cook for a few minutes until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water.
Place a saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add butter and allow it to melt.
Add flour, then whisk and cook for a minute or until brown.
Add milk and stir until well blended. Simmer for a few minutes until thick. Remove from the heat.
Add ½ of the cooked macaroni to the prepared baking dish and spread them evenly.
Add ½ of the grated onion, ½ of salt, pepper, and half of the cheddar cheese over the macaroni.
Add the rest of the macaroni over the cheese and spread it evenly. Repeat the process with the rest of the ingredients until everything is arranged in layers.
Spread the flour mixture on top, followed by the butter.
Cover the baking dish with aluminium foil.
Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes or until done.
Remove from the oven and garnish with your preferred herbs.
