Lumpia is my favorite Filipino food! I like eating it with spiced vinegar as a dipping sauce! If you haven’t tried it yet then, I highly recommend this recipe. I promise you that you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 c vegetable oil for frying
30 lumpia wrappers
½ c thinly sliced green cabbage
1 lb. ground pork
1 tbsp vegetable oil
½ c chopped onion
½ c minced carrots
1 tsp garlic powder
½ c chopped green onions
1 tsp soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp salt
Directions:
Put a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to high.
Add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the pork, then cook for a few minutes until crumbly and brown. Make sure to stir from time to time. Transfer the browned pork into a mixing bowl.
In the same skillet with the accumulated pork grease, add garlic and onion. Sauté for a few minutes until aromatic and soft.
Put the browned pork back into the skillet together with cabbage, green onions, and carrots. Stir-fry for a few minutes.
Add soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything until well blended. Remove the skillet from the heat and allow the mixture to cool completely at room temperature.
Add 3 tbsp of the meat mixture to the bottom of a wrapper. Fold the sides and roll the wrapper towards the top. Dip your finger in water, then touch the sides with it to seal. Repeat the process with the rest of the ingredients.
Place another skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add ½ inch of oil and allow it to become hot.
Add some of the lumpia and cook for about 2 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Transfer them onto a clan plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serve hot and enjoy!
