I am obsessed with taco-inspired casseroles, especially salads! This Dorito Taco Salad is one of the best taco-inspired salads I’ve made! It is insanely easy and quick to put together. The beautiful blend of spices in taco seasoning is to die for! I use a packet of taco seasoning as it is easier, but you should also try homemade or DIY taco seasoning. This salad has everything I want! The crisp, fresh lettuce, flavorful ground beef, cheese, and nacho cheese Doritos. No wonder why everyone is crazy over this salad. My family is always raving about this Dorito Taco Salad and they keep asking for it.
Ingredients
1 medium-large head of iceberg lettuce, chopped into bite-sized pieces
1 (1.25 ounce) packet of reduced sodium taco seasoning
1 pound 95% lean ground beef
4 ounces nacho cheese Doritos, broken up a bit into bite-sized pieces
1 c. light Catalina or French dressing – I used Kraft Lite Catalina
1 medium-large tomato, diced
4 ounces 50% less fat sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (like Cabot)
How to make Dorito Taco Salad
Step 1: In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking the meat into pieces as it cooks using a wooden spatula. Once the beef has browned, add the packet of taco seasoning and mix well until the meat is coated. Set aside when done.
Step 2: Place the lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and ground beef in a large serving bowl. Mix well.
Step 3: Add the Doritos to the large bowl, along with the dressing once ready to serve the salad. Toss well.
Step 4: serve and enjoy!
